State-of-the-Art Restoration
Before hitting the first day of Rennsport Reunion VI, we stopped by Canepa Motorsports in Scotts Valley, CA.
Canepa was founded by former racer, car dealer and long-time Porsche enthusiast Bruce Canepa. I’m not going to go into too much detail here other than to say if you’ve never been to his shop, you need to check it out. Not only does he have an amazing array of collector-grade cars – many of which are for sale – but he runs one of the best restoration shops around. Just ask Jerry Seinfeld the next time you bump into him; he was getting some work done to a recently purchased 934. There was also Tim Pappas’ famous RUF Yellowbird undergoing some work among other stellar P-cars.
In addition to wandering around in the showroom, you can also walk out into the garage area and check out some of the cars undergoing restoration and/or race preparation. They even have an area on the 2nd floor that is opened up and allows you to get a birds-eye view of the entirety of one of the work areas.
We were short on time during this trip but glad we stopped in for a few minutes to see the shop. Several cars from Canepa’s race cars to 959’s were out of the shop for RRVI so we’ll definitely be back the next time we’re in Northern California.
